About Miriam

Miriam has a certificate in Holistic Health Counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a program in partnership with Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. She is certified by the American Association for Drugless Practitioners and is a graduate of Guilford College, where she received a B.A. in Women’s Studies and Religious Studies.

She has worked with various non-profit organizations over the years like Earth Share of North Carolina, The Leaven Center and stone circles.  You will often find her cooking meals at The Stone House in Mebane, N.C.; a farm and retreat space for activists from all over the country, working on issues of spiritual practice and principles.  Currently, Miriam is also serving as a Board Director of Deep Roots Market and is the Director of Operations at the Lotus Center, a Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Clinic.

Through health counseling and education around issues of nutrition and cooking, Miriam makes the connection between a person’s health and their relationships, dietary choices, living habits, profession, spirituality and physical activity. She emphasizes a non-judgmental approach to health counseling. She is sensitive to a client’s situation and needs but will give them a gentle push when they need it. She helps individuals figure out what is preventing them from continuing or developing the healthy life they want to lead.

Miriam enjoys cooking, spending time with her 5 nieces & nephews, going to spin class, sitting around the fire with friends and a big glass of red wine.
